In this WIZZARD LINER NOTES VOL.11, titled "AMBIENT," I'd like to talk a little about ambient music.
Please bear with me this time as well.
On May 7th, I attended a chill-out party called 10th Anniversary "Sunset The MARINA" where we listened to ambient music while gazing at the sunset over Tokyo Bay.
Usually, it's held in a bay area where you can see the sunset, but this time, due to rain, it was held indoors.
It was a shame, especially for the 10th Anniversary.
Nevertheless, the altered venue had a very cozy atmosphere, characteristic of Sunset The MARINA, making it a very comfortable space.
Ambient music.
I believe I first encountered ambient music in 1991.
At that time, ACID HOUSE, an electronic music genre, was popular in Japan among fashion enthusiasts, music lovers, and club-goers.
I was completely captivated by the Manchester boom (the Madchester movement) at the time, so I naturally got into British ACID HOUSE.

Whenever I had free time, I would go to "33" (Thirty-Three), a mixed-culture shop in Kichijoji, to dig for information, and that's when I discovered The Orb's album "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld."
My favorite track was "Little Fluffy Clouds," and at the time, I found its mature, airy, and deep impression much more appealing than ACID HOUSE.
This led me to discover Ambient DJ Mixmaster Morris, who also performed at Sunset The MARINA.
Mixmaster Morris's selection at Sunset The MARINA was also excellent and very comfortable!

For me, the greatest joy of ambient music comes when I can listen to it with the right sound, in the right environment (outdoors is especially fantastic), with good friends or loved ones, and, for me, with a drink or two (lol).
If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend experiencing it for yourselves.
The rainy season will soon be upon us, and it might be a good idea to listen to it at home when you find yourself spending more time indoors.
◾️The Orb
Formed in London in 1988 by Alex Paterson, roadie for Killing Joke, and Jimmy Cauty of The KLF.
Jimmy Cauty left in 1990.
Since then, the group has centered around Alex Paterson, establishing itself as an electronic music group that pioneered ambient house and progressive house, and still enjoys immense popularity.
In 1991, they released their debut album, "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld," on Big Life.
Their second album, "U.F.Orb," released the following year in 1992, reached number one on the UK charts.
◾️Mixmaster Morris
An ambient DJ born in Brighton, UK, in 1965.
A solo project by Maurice Gould.
After graduating from university, he began his DJ career in 1985 with his own show, "Mongolian Hip Hop Show," on an unlicensed radio station in London.
He was active in clubs throughout London, and from 1987, he began producing works as The Irresistible Force with singer-songwriter De De Mouse.
He played a significant role as one of the pioneers of the UK acid scene.
In 1999, he won "Best Chillout DJ" at the Ibiza DJ Awards.
